Therapeutic Massage

This method of bodywork is an integration of Swedish, Deep Work, Facilitated Stretching, and energy work to allow the body to relax and ease tension and pain brought on by stress, trauma, and/or injury. Customized to fit your needs, these specific yet intuitive techniques soften, elongate, and focus on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue, correcting postural imbalances and fascial restrictions. Combined with energy work helps encourage the body to bring healing, balance and awareness to mind, body and spirit.

Acupressure

Acupressure is a form of Asian bodywork founded on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This ancient art balances the body’s “chi” or “qi” (cosmic vital energy) by applying gentle pressure to acupressure points along meridian pathways. These rivers and streams of energy is where chi flows. Imbalances occur when this flow is stagnant or blocked. Unbalanced energy causes physical, mental, and emotional tensions which manifest in many different ways. By utilizing assessment and observation techniques which include, but are not limited to, face, tongue, and pulse reading the practitioner is able to design a session plan in order to harmonize and balance the body’s vital life force and facilitate healing.

Acupressure is beneficial for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual imbalances. These include migraine/headaches, neck, shoulder and back pain, joint and muscle strain, sleep disorders, immunity, regulates organ function, menstruation, digestive conditions, hormone balance, anxiety, depression, fatigue and stress. Client is typically fully clothed. May be combined with other bodywork modalities.

Tui Na

Typically combined with Acupressure Tui Na is an Asian bodywork therapy developed in China over 2,000 years ago. Based on Tai Chi and Qi Gong exercises this healing method incorporates stretching and various stroke techniques such as pushing, grasping, kneading, rolling/pressing, and shaking in combination with acupressure holds. These specific techniques help to restore and realign the beneficial flow of chi (universal energy that animates all life) through the musculo-tendon (sinews) and meridian channels allowing the body to heal naturally, leaving the client feeling relaxed and invigorated. Client is fully clothed in comfortable loose fitting attire.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle and light touch modality developed by John E. Upledger, DO, OMM. This non-invasive form of bodywork works with the craniosacral system and has a direct and therapeutic impact on the central nervous system. CST seeks to locate and correct restrictions in the membranes, skeletal structure, and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. By releasing these restrictions the body alleviates pain and dysfunction and is able to relax and self-correct therefore enhancing overall health and well-being. CST is beneficial for a variety of issues including migraines/headaches, neck and back pain, stress and tension, chronic fatigue, TMJ dysfunction, motor-coordination impairments, Fibromyalgia and many more. Client is typically clothed but can be combined with any massage modality.

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy massage is a form of therapeutic bodywork tailored specifically to the needs of expectant mothers. Changes in shape, composition, hormonal flow, weight distribution, and posture have a dramatic effect on the body as a whole. Through utilizing various relaxing and healing touch techniques we create length and space in the body and support and nurture on a physiological and emotional level thus improving overall well-being for mother and baby. Although side-lying is generally ideal, different positioning can be used depending on stage of pregnancy and comfort of client. Many benefits of pregnancy massage include blood and lymph circulation, edema (swelling), strain on joints, ligaments, and muscles, back pain, neck and shoulder discomfort, headaches, and sciatica. It also can help relieve fatigue, stress, and insomnia.
